The WX RDRs are designed to operate as part of the airborne equipment of aircraft and helicopters of civil and transport aviation and provide scanning of air space in the vertical and horizontal planes with the aim of:
- detection of zones of hazardous turbulence;
- signalling on hazardous meteorological formations;
- tracking of displacements of meteorological formations and reference points;
- shaping and display of a radar map of the terrain at the indicator.
The adjusted scanning range is from 10 to 600 km.
